Jenna Ortega Not Involved In “Gremlins 3”

It’s been a while since we’ve had an update on Gremlins 3.

The last we heard, a script was complete and was awaiting input from producer Steven Spielberg. However, the project has been greenlit, and was expected to move forward in 2026.

Recent reports suggested that Wednesday and Scream star Jenna Ortega had been offered a plum role in the project, and was considering her options.

The news caused considerable waves online, given Ortega’s popularity and her openness about wanting to be involved in the project.

However, sadly, we can confirm that reports Ortega has been approached for the project are false, as per a statement from Ortega’s representatives.

Undoubtedly, this will disappoint both fans of Ortega and Gremlins, but we have no doubt a dynamite cast will be assembled for this sequel regardless.

Currently, Gremlins 3 is set to be directed by original writer Chris Columbus, who also penned the first draft of the script. Final Destination: Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein serve as co-writers, following a studio requested pass on the script.

Steven Spielberg serves as executive producer, returning to the Gremlins brand for the first time since the 1984 original.

Plot details a remaining a closely guarded secret, and other than the Ortega rumours, we’ve had no official casting updates. However, Zach Galligan, star of Gremlins and its 1990 sequel, has spoken confidently about the script’s content, suggesting he is expected to return to the role of Billy Peltzer.

Gremlins 3 is currently slated to release on November 19th 2027.
